This example of a Ceramic Coatings application gone wrong was found on a Consumer Complaints page online. Sadly this is a story of horribly sloppy preparation and poor workmanship. Part of the work to be done was removing and replacing any cracked caulk – not done. Before applying the base product the building is power washed, for this consumer the power washing was done in about 20 minutes on a 2900 square foot home, leaving behind wasp nests and a lot of dirt and dust. A proper power washing requires at least a few hours. The company then applied the product base, which is sticky, over the old cracked caulking, wasp nests and dirt and dust. Last, they applied the final product over the cracked caulking, wasp nests, dirt and dust, and the base product. Needless to say the product was blistering and flaking after 2 or 3 days of the “completion” of the job.
Then to add further aggravation to the situation the company would not return phone calls from the consumer for weeks. When finally the consumer’s phone calls are returned they offer to fix only the areas on the house that were flaking or blistering for an additional charge. Imagine if this was your wood home, you have placed your trust in a company that has violated that trust and now you are trapped in a situation that probably will never have a good ending.
